Jill Matarelli Carlson (She/Her/Hers)

Certified Teacher, Professor, Intimacy Director

Jill Matarelli Carlson is a Professor at East Carolina University where she teaches movement, stage combat, physical characterization, and acting. She is a Certified Teacher with the Society of American Fight Directors and an Certified Intimacy Director with Intimacy Directors and Coordinators (idcprofessionals.com). She has worked as an Entertainment Cast Member for Walt Disney World and co-founded The Odyssey Express Touring Theatre Company. Most recently she staged the violence, movement, and intimacy for the Cape Fear Regional Theatre productions of Wait Until Dark, Disgraced, Music City, Peter and the Starcatcher and Memphis. Jill received an MFA in Acting with a Movement Concentration from Western Illinois University and is 200 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher. Favorite roles include: Soccer Mom in The Wolves; Fraulein Schneider in Cabaret; Matron Mama Morton in Chicago; Antigone in Antigone; Mrs. Walker in Tommy; Amy in Company; Lindsay in Some Girl(s); and The Herald in Marat/Sade. Jill lives in Greenville, NC with her husband, John, and doggie, Beanie.
