David S. Leong is Chairman, Full Professor, and Producer of the Theatre Department at Virginia Commonwealth University. Prior to his appointment at VCU, David served on the faculty of The Juilliard School and was the Fight Director for the Lincoln Center and The New York Shakespeare Festival.

Broadway credits include The Civil War, The Rainmaker, Hamlet, Macbeth, Company, Picnic, In the Summer House, A Delicate Balance, The Homecoming, Solitary Confinement, Sex and Longing, and Carousel. His film credits include Alien Resurrection and Titus.

He has choreographed many notable actors including Sigourney Weaver, Wynona Ryder, Val Kilmer, Marisa Tomei, Stacy Keach, Kevin Spacey, Mary McDonnell, Don Cheadle, Steven Lang, Tom Berenger, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Joan Cusack, Tom Hulce, Annabella Sciorra, and Harry Hamlin.

His fights have been seen on the stages of many regional theatres including The Shakespeare Theatre, Arena Stage, The Mark Taper Forum, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, The Williamstown Theatre Festival, The Goodman Theatre, the Guthrie Theatre, ART, ACT, Yale Repertory Theatre, Long Wharf Theatre, Huntington Theatre Company, The Alley Theatre, Dallas Theatre Center and many more.

He and Fight Master Allen Suddeth are co-authors of a three part video series Unarmed Stage Combat.
