No matter where life has taken Martin Noyes he always seems at home in the theatre. He has, in fact, been on stage for more than 28 years. His experiences have taken him around the world from Italy to Alaska, both as an actor and a specialized stage combatant. It was not until he received his M.F.A. in theatre performance that Martin decided to devote more time to teaching and fight direction. Mr. Noyes has been working at South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa, California since 2003. His duties there have been multi-faceted and include performing, teaching, fight direction, and stage management. Fight Directing credits at S.C.R. include Hitchcock Blonde, The Further Adventures of Hedda Gabler, Life is a Dream, The Prince and the Pauper, Ridiculous Fraud, Bach at Leipzig, Nothing Sacred and System Wonderland. His expertise in this field was noted by the Daily Pilot when they named Mr. Noyes their “Man of the Year in Theatre” in 2006 for his fight direction at S.C.R. Other fight direction credits are Shakespeare’s R and J, Big Love, Cabaret, Never in my Lifetime, Hot n’ Throbbing and A Christmas Story at The Chance Theatre, where Martin currently serves as resident fight director. Mr. Noyes has also worked on King Lear, As You Like It, and Pygmalion at Shakespeare Santa Cruz and numerous additional college endeavors. Acting credits include Kap in Ridiculous Fraud, and Husband in Hitchcock Blonde at the South Coast Repertory Theatre. Mr. Noyes also performed as Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet, Jim Casey in Grapes of Wrath, and ably mastered his favorite role as Maria in 12th Night at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival. Other memorable acting performances include Duke of Buckingham in The Three Musketeers at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, John Merrick in The Elephant Man, and The Player in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. |
