Blogging the GB Meeting - Denver, 2009 :: Arrival

All of us are officially here, and I’ve got my feet propped up on this table.  Any other day, and this rough-hewn coffee table made of cheap presswood would be uncomfortable.  But after nine hours of shuttling people back and forth from the airport to our rooms at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, this table is a good, good friend.

Over the next two days, I will be blogging the details of our Governing Body Meeting to give members a better idea of how we turn twenty hours of debate and agenda into—hopefully—something productive and constructive that will benefit our members.  Members who are reading this can send me questions and comments over the weekend via the contact page.  Don't hesitate to take part in the process.

We want to hear from you.

Oh, and by the way, the coolest thing about our rooms at Brooks Tower is the 7-11 next door.  That’s right, the seven-eleven.  Guests use their room keys to bypass the security doors and gain special access to a secret entrance at the back of the store.   You never know when you’ll need a Red Bull or strawberry milk, or some Pop Tarts.  Pop Tarts seem very popular here.

Anyone know why?

Rocky IV or Over the Top

My roommate--Certified Teacher and Vice President, John Tovar--just walked in and interrupted my viewing of Rocky IV. I don't know what bother me more. The fact that I actually was reliving some form of youthful hero worship by watching Rocky IV, or that John insisted that the movie I had been watching was not Rocky IV, but in fact his arm-wrestling epic, Over the Top. John claims it was the small child that threw him off; I think it was the knitted sweater.

In My Defense

While the white sweater is deceiving, it WAS the small child!!!
