Click here to download the application NOTE: Deadline has been extended to March 31, 2008 The National Stage Combat Workshop (NSCW) in Las Vegas will offer three scholarships for three SAFD members to attend the NSCW. The Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. Awared will provide full tuition and housing, while each of the Patrick "Paddy" Crean and Ian McKay Scholarships are in the amount of $600, each. The scholarship will be applicable to the Actor/Combatant Workshop, Intermediate Actor/Combatant Workshop or Advanced Actor/Combatant Workshop. A candidate for this scholarship must be a dues paying Friend, Actor/Combatant or Advanced Actor/Combatant for a minimum of one year. In addition, they must demonstrate an aptitude toward, and a strong desire to learn the skills and performance styles of the stage combative arts. Applicants need demonstrate a need (not necessarily financial) for said scholarship and be pursuant of, or have received an undergraduate degree in, performance studies (or other such equivalent training). To be selected for one of these scholarships, the Friend, A/C or AA/C must be nominated by a member of the SAFD Governing Body, Fight Master, Fight Director or Certified Teacher. Nomination materials should include the candidate's resume (curriculum vitae if applicable), copies of any and all SAFD certificates, proof of membership, a letter of recommendation from their petitioner and from one other party (teacher, director, etc,). Nominations for the scholarships must send the above materials to the Secretary who shall submit them for review by the Governing Body. All nomination materials must be submitted to the Secretary by the first of March of the given NSCW year to be considered. One nomination and application will serve to be considered for all of the scholarships being offered. The secretary will notify the recipients no later than the April 30, 2008. If no candidates are deemed worthy of the scholarships, the Governing Body has the right to withhold the scholarships for that year. |
