Northwest Regional Report September/October 2010
Recently, AC Paul Ray completed and passed his Quarterstaff SPT with FM Geof Alm, representing the completion of eight weapons. Paul organized and choreographed the latest video project for Ty Huffer: a music video for pop-punk band Sgt. Major III comprised of former members of local Seattle bands, The Posies and The Fastbacks. Paul staged a Roadhouse-style bar brawl involving members of the band and twenty-five extras for the song, "Ice Cold Ten", to be released this fall.
This summer, Paul was busy with the outdoor theater community. He staged fight choreography for Shakespeare on the Troll, an outdoor-theater Shakespeare company, and An Inconvenient Squirrel with Theater Schmeater. For the Seattle Outdoor Theater Festival, Paul performed exhibitions before each production using Broadsword and Sword and Shield. He will be slated to choreograph The Driftwood Players' upcoming production of The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940. In addition to choreography, Paul continues to work as a substitute teacher for FD Bob Macdougall at Cornish College in Seattle, and teaching youth stage-combat workshops. He is looking forward to future choreography projects and developing further workshops.
CT Heidi Wolf would like to thank friends and mentors throughout the 20 years since her first stage combat class.
