In the fall of 2009 CT Tiza Garland became a Certified Teacher with the British Academy of Stage and Screen Combat. Finishing her written project with the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies at the same time, she is also now a Certified Movement Analyst. Tiza has rotated off the Executive Committee for the Southeastern Theatre Conference and has been appointed to the Strategic and Future Planning Committee for that national organization. In May Tiza was in Eureka, IL with CT DC Wright and CT H. Russ Brown at the Central Illinois Stage Combat Workshop where the three edited and proposed modifications to the SAFD Glossary of Terms. In June Tiza went to Belgrade, Serbia to work with the Dah Theatre. The training and rehearsals culminated in a presentation of a devised piece based on thethemes and images from Antigone. Only days after returning from Eastern Europe, Tiza went to Peru where she completed her 3rd marathon. She finished 2nd in the 27.5 July Inca Trail Marathon. In August she will participate in two “Unrehearsed Shakespeare” productions in Chicago playing Sebastian in The Tempest and as Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing.
