Marianne freelances as a stage director, choreographer, fight director, and movement coach. She is the Head of Movement for the MFA Acting and BA Drama programs at the University of Virginia. A Biomechanics specialist, she authored the book chapter on Meyerhold in Movement for Actors. In addition to stage combat, Marianne also teaches period styles, Laban, neutral mask, ballroom dance, devised theatre and foundational movement principles. Fight directing credits include The Beaux Stratagem, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Private Lives, Don Giovanni, Henry IV:I, Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, As You Like It, Twelfth Night and Othello. Marianne has been a resident guest artist at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, the Accademia d'elle Arte and the University of Connecticut, and on the faculties of the University of Kansas, Boston University and Emerson College. Marianne serves as Treasurer for the Association of Theater Movement Educators (ATME). She holds an MA from Tufts University and an MFA from Boston University School for the Arts.
