Heidi began her stage combat career in 1990, at Richard Lane’s Academy of the Sword in northern CA. Currently based in Seattle, she has been a member of the SAFD for 20 years (2000-present) and a Certified Teacher for 10 years (2010-present).

Heidi served as the SAFD Northwest Regional Representative from 2007 through 2014. As the founding member of Comrades At Arms, she coordinated numerous classes in Seattle from 2001-2013, and co-produced three multi-track stage combat and movement workshops ("The Fights of Spring") in 2006-2008. Her published work includes two articles for The Fight Master (Fall 2014 and Spring 2016): one on WWI images of sword-wielding women, the other on a famous 18th-century combatant of color, the Chevalier de Saint-George.

Heidi has taught stage combat and movement classes at Cornish College of the Arts, Ear to the Ground Theatre, Freehold Studio, St. Lawrence University, University of Idaho, University of North Carolina School of the Arts, University of Puget Sound, and the University of Washington School of Drama. Her fight directing spans classical, contemporary, and new works. An advocate for continuing professional education, she currently trains in Suzuki, Slow Tempo, Linklater Voice, and multiple dance forms.
